The UAE's National Media Authority has warned the public and content creators against using artificial intelligence or other modern technologies to generate images or videos featuring national symbols or public figures without prior official approval, Gulf News reported.
In an advisory published on social media platform X, the authority stated that producing such unapproved visual content constitutes a direct violation of the UAE's established media content standards.
The regulator noted that the warning is issued pursuant to media content regulations currently in force across the country. These rules mandate strict respect for the UAE's system of government, national symbols, institutions, and national identity, while explicitly prohibiting the publication or circulation of false or misleading material.
The authority highlighted that modern AI tools can generate highly realistic images, video, and audio based on simple text prompts, making it increasingly difficult for audiences to distinguish between authentic material and fabricated content.
