The UAE Federal Tax Authority has officially launched an artificial intelligence-driven digital VAT refund system across major international airports in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, Emirates 24|7 reported.

Operated in partnership with Planet, the smart solution allows tourists and departing travelers to initiate tax refund claims digitally prior to arriving at airport terminals. At the airport, visitors scan a single QR code to validate transactions.

The automated platform processes payouts within one business day, representing a significant reduction from the previous average processing duration of nine business days. If automated screening detects any discrepancies, the application directs passengers to smart gates for manual inspection.
