The UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism has enacted tightened anti-commercial fraud regulations affecting commercial businesses, markets, and logistics operators across the country, according to Time Out Dubai.
Under the updated rules, warehouses and retailers are legally required to remove counterfeit, adulterated, or spoiled inventory within 24 hours of receiving an official directive. In addition, distributors must notify associated retail points of sale within 24 hours and issue formal public withdrawal notices within 48 hours.
Penalties for handling or trading counterfeit products can reach up to Dh1 million, in addition to potential product confiscation and business closure. The regulatory measures aim to eliminate grey-market goods and provide stronger trademark and consumer protection nationwide.
