Preliminary bilateral agreement on railway connections and energy cooperation

The UAE and Saudi Arabia signed a preliminary bilateral agreement in Riyadh to establish cross-border railway links and expand energy cooperation, The National reported.

The pact was signed by UAE Minister of Investment Mohamed Alsuwaidi and Saudi Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman.

The agreement sets out a framework to conduct economic and technical feasibility studies aimed at integrating rail freight networks and expediting cross-border logistics between both countries.

In addition to rail transport, the pact encompasses electricity interconnection and commercial cross-border power trading. Both governments stated that the initiative is designed to reduce friction along Gulf trade corridors and support GCC-wide infrastructure integration.
