Construction Business News Middle East reported that SABIC and Dubai Holding led the region's top ten contract awards in September, ranked by disclosed contract value across infrastructure, energy, water, power, and real estate.
Dubai Holding awarded an AED 5 billion (approximately US$1.36 billion) contract to China State Construction Engineering Corporation Middle East (CSCEC ME). The deal represents the largest construction contract awarded by Dubai Holding to date. The project covers Dubai Holding's new headquarters, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, alongside two towers featuring 754 branded residences at Jumeirah Residences Emirates Towers. Dubai Holding expects the headquarters to open in 2029, followed by residence handovers in 2030.
At the top of the monthly list, SABIC Agri-Nutrients awarded Samsung E&A an EPC contract valued at nearly US$3.47 billion for an ammonia and urea complex in Jubail Industrial City. SABIC Agri-Nutrients announced its final investment decision on September 10, with project commissioning targeted for the third quarter of 2030.
The Jubail complex will include a 1.2 million tonne-a-year ammonia plant, two urea plants totaling 2.6 million tonnes annually, and a post-combustion carbon capture unit, increasing SABIC Agri-Nutrients' urea capacity by roughly 54 percent from approximately 4.8 million to 7.4 million tonnes annually.
