Radiant World Misses September Salary Payments for Employees Amid Restructuring

Employees at iron ore trader Radiant World in Singapore, China, and Europe reported that their September salaries were not paid on schedule, according to The Straits Times. Staff indicated that recent salaries had been disbursed from a company account in Dubai, with the delay occurring as court-appointed interim judicial managers KPMG assume oversight of operations. The disruption follows legal actions by multiple lenders alleging the company raised financing using falsified documents, claims the trader has previously denied.

Some employees of commodity trader Radiant World did not receive their September salaries on schedule, according to a report by The Straits Times citing people familiar with the situation. Staff members located in Singapore, China, and Europe stated that paychecks typically distributed around the fourth week of the month had not arrived, and they were unaware of any colleagues receiving payments as of Oct 5.

Workers reported that while occasional payment delays of several days had occurred in prior months, widespread concern emerged among staff over the past week due to multiple legal actions initiated against the company. Some employees noted that in recent months, salary disbursements had been paid out from a company account located in Dubai.

The payroll issue surfaces as operations at Radiant World are being transferred to court-appointed restructuring managers. In late September, a Singapore court appointed executives from KPMG as interim judicial managers for the firm's main operating unit. Several banks have ceased business with the trader following reports in July that lenders raised concerns regarding the use of falsified documents in financing arrangements.

The exact cause of the salary delay remains unconfirmed, and it is unclear when or if the wages will be paid. Representatives for Radiant World and KPMG did not immediately respond to requests for comment, while Radiant World has previously denied wrongdoing.
