State-owned QatarEnergy has finalized a $3 billion loan facility syndicated through four major Chinese commercial and policy banks, according to Al Majalla.

The funding package is allocated to support repairs, upgrades, and terminal logistics at Ras Laffan following operational disruptions. It also aims to assist efforts to maintain liquefied natural gas (LNG) export volumes amid ongoing maritime transit risks.

Al Majalla reported that the transaction reflects deepening Chinese financial and infrastructure commitments within the Gulf energy sector. Total commercial bank lending from Chinese institutions to Gulf borrowers reached a record $11.5 billion in 2025, backing infrastructure while securing hydrocarbon supplies for Chinese industrial growth.
