According to reporting by Time Out Dubai, astronomical projections have outlined the expected calendar for major public holidays in the United Arab Emirates in 2027. Under the UAE public holiday law, workers are entitled to a minimum of 12 official paid days off each year, with Eid celebrations comprising the majority of those holidays. While the law permits non-Eid holidays to be shifted to the start or end of the week, this shift provision does not apply to Eid Al Fitr or Eid Al Adha.
Eid Al Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and falls on the first day of Shawwal. Statutory regulations set the first three days of Shawwal as official public holidays, along with the 30th day of Ramadan if the fasting month reaches 30 days. Ramadan in 2027 is forecast to begin on Monday, February 8. Projections from the General Authority of Islamic Affairs Endowments and Zakat indicate that Ramadan will likely span 30 days, ending on Tuesday, March 9.
Under a 30-day Ramadan scenario, the Eid Al Fitr holiday would run from Tuesday, March 9 through Friday, March 12, creating a six-day break when combined with the weekend. If Ramadan lasts 29 days, Shawwal 1 would fall on Tuesday, March 9, making Eid Al Fitr a three-day holiday through Thursday, March 11, with normal working hours resuming on Friday, March 12.
For Eid Al Adha, statutory leave spans four consecutive days, starting on Arafat Day (Dhu Al Hijjah 9) through Dhu Al Hijjah 12. Projections place Arafat Day on Saturday, May 15, meaning the holiday would extend through Sunday, May 16, Monday, May 17, and Tuesday, May 18, providing a four-day weekend. Official dates for all lunar holidays remain tentative until confirmed by UAE moon-sighting authorities.
Additionally, Eid Al Etihad (UAE National Day), which follows the Gregorian calendar, is set for Thursday, December 2 and Friday, December 3, 2027, yielding an official four-day weekend.
