Azerbaijan Expands Renewables Backed by UAE and Chinese Clean Energy Investments
Renewable sources generated 20% of Azerbaijan's electricity during the first nine months of 2026, up from 13.4% in 2025. The transition is supported by over $500 million in foreign direct investment, including major utility-scale projects developed by UAE and Chinese companies. Baku aims to install 8 GW of renewable capacity by 2032 and intends to initiate competitive green auctions in 2028.
