UAE equity markets diverged on Monday, with Dubai slipping fractionally while Abu Dhabi posted modest gains. The DFM General Index eased 0.04% to close at 5,898.86, while the FTSE ADX General Index rose 0.35% to 10,008.39. Both bourses traded within narrow bands as market participants adopted a cautious tone.
The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) has integrated into the SWIFT global messaging network by activating its Business Identifier Code. This connectivity upgrade enables standardized and automated financial communications with foreign institutional investors, international central securities depositories, and custodians. The initiative aims to enhance post-trade infrastructure and expand cross-border capital access.
United Arab Emirates stock indexes retreated as renewed warnings of Middle East flight disruptions dampened investor sentiment. Dubai's benchmark dropped approximately 0.4 percent while Abu Dhabi fell 0.6 percent, led by losses in major banking shares including Emirates NBD. The market weakness reflects vulnerability in an economy where travel and tourism contributed 257 billion dirhams in 2025.
Shares on the Dubai Financial Market and Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange retreated following renewed Middle East air travel advisories and flight disruptions. Aviation, tourism, and consumer stocks faced notable downward pressure amid route diversions and elevated airfares. While domestic airspace has reopened, airport throughput and hotel occupancy in Dubai remained below prior-year levels.
