UAE Plans 45 Percent Cut in Power and Water Emissions by 2035

The UAE plans to reduce carbon emissions from electricity and water production by more than 45% by 2035, according to long-term energy system planning reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM). Emissions are projected to fall from approximately 42 million tonnes in 2019 to 23 million tonnes, despite an expected 70% increase in power demand between 2026 and 2033. The strategy relies on expanding Abu Dhabi's solar capacity to over 35 GW, deploying 15 GW of battery storage, and shifting over 95% of water output to reverse osmosis.

Dubai Enforces Strict New Truck Traffic Movement Restrictions Starting October 1

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority and Dubai Police will introduce new truck movement regulations from October 1, 2026, to reduce road congestion and enhance safety. The measures include 24-hour bans on specific corridors, a 16-hour restriction on Sheikh Zayed Road, and peak-hour curbs across urban routes, while Emirates Road remains exempt. Transport operators requiring movement during restricted hours for essential tasks must secure a mobility permit.

Russia’s 2026 TNF Energy Forum Draws China and UAE Participation in Tyumen

The XI International Industrial and Energy Forum TNF was held in Tyumen from September 14 to 17, 2026, marking its first edition with full international status. The gathering brought together more than 18,000 participants and over 50 signed cooperation agreements, featuring industry participation from China, the UAE's ADNOC, and Central Asian states. The platform focused on Russian oilfield technology localization, equipment manufacturing, and cross-border commercial partnerships.

UAE Outlines Expansion of International Judicial Cooperation and Cross-Border Legal Agreements

UAE Minister of Justice Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi detailed the country's international judicial framework during the 15th UN Crime Congress in Abu Dhabi. The UAE maintains more than 140 bilateral agreements across 53 countries and is a party to 16 multilateral conventions. Official figures show incoming mutual legal assistance requests grew by 244 percent between 2021 and 2025.
