French energy group TotalEnergies announced two parallel liquefied natural gas (LNG) agreements connecting Middle Eastern production directly with downstream demand in China.

Under a five-year contract, UAE-based ADNOC Gas will supply TotalEnergies with up to 1.6 million tonnes of LNG annually, with deliveries scheduled to commence in 2026. TotalEnergies stated that this arrangement builds on a long-standing partnership with the UAE company and leverages the Emirates' strategic position between Europe and Asia.

In tandem with the UAE contract, TotalEnergies signed a 15-year heads of agreement (HoA) with China's Jiangsu Guoxin Group. The HoA, which remains subject to the finalization of definitive sale and purchase agreements, entails the delivery of 900,000 tonnes of LNG per year beginning in 2028.

Shipments destined for China will be discharged at Jiangsu Guoxin Group's new LNG import terminal located in Rudong. The imported fuel will support city gas distribution and peak-demand power generation across Jiangsu Province.
