Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund Mubadala Investment Company has agreed to acquire a $1 billion minority stake in Chinese coffee chain Luckin Coffee, according to World Coffee Portal. The investment is intended to expand Mubadala's presence in China's $7.2 billion consumer market.
The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions. It has been arranged in partnership with Centurium Capital, Luckin's controlling shareholder, whose 22.08% beneficial ownership in the coffee operator will remain unchanged following the deal.
Luckin Coffee currently operates more than 36,000 outlets across China, having opened its 30,000th store in February 2026. The value-focused chain also runs 250 international locations across Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and the United States.
