Dubai-headquartered Mashreq Bank has injected $125 million into its Hong Kong operations to capture growing commercial and investment flows between the Middle East and China. Mashreq Bank Group CEO Ahmed Abdelaal stated that the capital deployment reflects a structural shift from traditional goods trade toward long-term investments in digital infrastructure, data centers, energy, and logistics.

According to the bank, its Hong Kong revenue and profitability increased by roughly 50 percent year-on-year as of August 2026, while new-to-bank business grew by 13 percent over the same timeframe. Abdelaal noted that economic engagement between the Gulf and Greater China continues on a sustained long-term growth trajectory.

To accommodate rising business volumes, Mashreq expanded its relationship management team in the territory. The bank also completed an inaugural 1 billion yuan ($149 million) dim sum bond issuance, targeted at clients requiring renminbi-denominated financing solutions.
