UAE-based legal technology company Legaline Platform has launched what it describes as the Middle East and North Africa's first artificial intelligence-powered courtroom simulator, according to Arabian Business. The tool, named Meta Legal Space, was unveiled at the Dubai AI Festival on Monday, October 26.
The platform enables law students and trainee lawyers to conduct mock hearings with AI-powered judges, clerks, witnesses, and experts who respond to arguments in real time rather than following predetermined scripts. Trainees can argue cases against an AI opposing lawyer or another student under UAE onshore, Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), or Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) legal frameworks.
The simulator uses AI characters programmed with distinct backgrounds, professions, and behavioral traits that affect their responses during cross-examinations. Each witness is designed to withhold a specific fact that trainees must extract through questioning based on evidence in the case file. The system supports litigation, arbitration, and mediation, with an initial case library covering commercial, civil, and employment disputes.
Dmitry Grinik, founder and CEO of Legaline Platform, stated that the simulator allows trainees to make mistakes in a risk-free environment before handling live client matters. Jouslin Khairallah, founder and managing director of KH Legal and a founding member of Legaline Platform, noted that the tool addresses limited opportunities available to junior practitioners to gain practical trial experience.
Legaline Platform also operates other AI services, including a legal research assistant spanning 35 practice areas, an educational chatbot, and a document-generation tool that prepares contract drafts, letters, and pleadings in approximately 15 seconds.
