Sharjah-based port and supply chain operator Gulftainer announced an upgrade to its Khorfakkan China Express (KCX1) service, operated by its shipping arm GT Lines, effective November 2, 2026. The move aims to strengthen trade connectivity between China and the UAE while widening access to regional markets.
The upgraded KCX1 service deploys a consortium of five vessels operating on a 10-day sailing frequency. According to Gulftainer, the configuration is designed to increase cargo capacity, optimize transit times, and enhance schedule reliability between China and Khorfakkan Port in the UAE.
The service is operated in a commercial partnership with Chinese carriers ZHONG GU, SEA LEGEND, and NINGBO OCEAN, combining capabilities to boost maritime connectivity along the bilateral trade route.
In addition to direct port-to-port maritime transport, the link integrates with inland and feeder networks, including Sharjah Dry Ports, Momentum Logistics, and the GULF CONNECT feeder network. Gulftainer stated that this multimodal setup offers onward distribution across the UAE, the wider Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, and Iraq.
