DMCC Chief Urges Including Fertiliser Minerals in Global Critical Mineral Frameworks

DMCC Executive Chairman Ahmed Bin Sulayem stated that fertiliser components such as potash, phosphate rock, and sulphur must be treated as critical minerals for food security. Writing in Gulf News, he highlighted Dubai's trading infrastructure and proposed applying the Dubai Critical Minerals Standard to fertiliser inputs. The UAE remains the world's leading exporter of sulphur, with exports previously projected to reach 11.4 million tonnes annually by 2029.

Dubai Outlines Four-Step Process for Expatriates Sponsoring Family Residence Visas

The Dubai government has published official guidance detailing the four-step procedure for expatriate residents sponsoring family members. Both male and female residents can sponsor spouses, children under 25, and parents under the emirate's family residence visa scheme. The process requires securing an entry permit, undergoing a medical fitness test for dependents aged 18 and older, applying for the residence visa, and securing an Emirates ID.

Mistral Announces New AI Model at Abu Dhabi Conference

French artificial intelligence startup Mistral has announced a new open-weight AI model named Mistral Large 4. Speaking at the Ai Everything conference in Abu Dhabi, CEO Arthur Mensch stated that the model outperforms certain Chinese models in cybersecurity. Mensch added that independence from US and Chinese suppliers is driving the company's growth in the Gulf and Asia-Pacific regions.
