FREELANDER announced that it will host the first test drive of the international variant of the FREELANDER 8 at the 2026 Chery International User Summit in Wuhu, China, according to a company release distributed via GlobeNewswire. The event follows the brand's official Global Brand Launch hosted in Abu Dhabi on September 29, 2026.
Hosted by Chery Auto at its global headquarters in Wuhu later this month, the summit will convene international media, content creators, and dealer partners to test the vehicle in both on-road and off-road driving environments.
According to the announcement, the off-road testing programme covers sand, mud, rocks, steep inclines, and water crossings. The vehicle is equipped with Chery and JLR's Intelligent All-Terrain System (i-ATS), dual-motor all-wheel drive, dual-chamber air suspension, and the All-Terrain Dual Lock System. Under stated test conditions, the SUV can climb slopes of up to 70% and navigate water depths of up to 900 mm.
The programme also includes an on-road test track to assess acceleration, braking, handling, and ride comfort, alongside demonstrations of Super Intelligent Valet Parking (SIVP) designed for selected international markets.
