Dubai Restricts Heavy Freight Lorries on Key Roads Starting October 1

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority and Dubai Police announced updated restrictions on heavy commercial vehicles starting October 1, 2026. Sheikh Zayed Road will introduce a daily 16-hour ban on heavy lorries from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Emirates Road remains exempted to support inter-emirate industrial transport.

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police announced that new restrictions on heavy freight lorries and trucks will take effect from October 1, 2026, according to The National.

Under the updated regulations, Sheikh Zayed Road will be subject to a 16-hour daily ban for heavy commercial vehicles, running from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Freight traffic will also face restrictions across three daily peak time slots on Damascus Street, Amman Street, and Airport Street.

Emirates Road is exempted from the new restrictions to accommodate inter-emirate industrial transport and logistics operations. Authorities introduced the measures to improve traffic management across the emirate, where commercial fleets currently generate approximately 400,000 truck trips each day.
