According to a report by Legit News citing the official Dubai government portal, authorities have published the five-step process required for foreign nationals to work legally in the UAE's private sector in 2026.

Under the outlined framework, the procedure begins before the worker enters the country. The candidate must first receive an official job offer and sign an employment contract, after which the employer applies to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) for a work permit, also referred to as labour approval.

Following work permit approval, the employer submits an application for an entry permit visa enabling the employee to enter the UAE. Individuals already residing in the country on visit or tourist visas are instructed to complete a visa status change rather than securing a new entry permit.

Upon entering the UAE or converting visa status, the employee is required to undergo a compulsory medical fitness assessment and submit biometric data for their Emirates ID. Once medical clearance is granted, the employer applies for the residence visa and Emirates ID, both of which are typically issued with a two-year validity.

The fifth and concluding stage involves the finalisation of the employee's labour card and MOHRE employment contract after all prior steps are completed.
