Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, announced a strategy to integrate expanded visa services into the official Visit Dubai platform. The initiative includes a loyalty programme rewarding repeat visitors and provides travellers with a single channel to apply for single-entry, multiple-entry, and long-term visas. Applications submitted through the website are redirected to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) for assessment and issuance, with processing targeted within 48 hours.
Under the outlined framework, the UAE offers 30-day and 60-day single-entry and multiple-entry tourist visas, which require sponsorship by a UAE-based company or licensed travel agency. GDRFA fee schedules list single-entry permits at Dh200 ($54.46) for 30 days and Dh300 for 60 days, while multiple-entry permits cost Dh300 for 30 days and Dh500 for 60 days, excluding VAT and service charges. Required documentation includes a passport valid for at least six months, a passport photograph, confirmed onward or return tickets, and valid UAE medical insurance.
Dubai also maintains a five-year multiple-entry tourist visa that does not require a local sponsor. Applicants must present a bank statement showing a balance of at least $4,000 or equivalent over the previous six months, valid health insurance, and return tickets, permitting stays of up to 90 days per visit with a maximum of 180 days per year. Specialized permits remain available for event participants, AI specialists sponsored by technology companies, transit travellers (48 or 96 hours), and friends or relatives of UAE residents meeting specific monthly salary thresholds.
International travellers from several jurisdictions do not need prior visa arrangements. Chinese nationals, along with citizens of the EU, the UK, the US, Australia, and Japan, remain eligible for visa-free entry, while citizens of over 80 nations can obtain visas on arrival.
