Dubai Implements New Heavy Freight Movement Restrictions on Major Commercial Roads

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority and Dubai Police have introduced new heavy freight regulations impacting major trade corridors across the emirate. The measures impose a 16-hour daily ban on Sheikh Zayed Road and Beirut Street, alongside 24-hour restrictions on several other corridors. Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police have implemented new heavy freight movement restrictions effective October 1, 2026. The regulations target major commercial routes across the emirate, directly affecting Dubai's commercial logistics sector, which handles approximately 400,000 truck movements per day.

Under the new rules, a 16-hour daily ban on heavy freight applies from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. along Sheikh Zayed Road and Beirut Street. In addition, continuous 24-hour freight restrictions have been enforced on Al Qudra Street, Al Meydan Street, and the Airport Tunnel.

Freight and transport operators with essential transit requirements during the ban windows are required to apply for special electronic mobility permits issued by the RTA. Arabian Business reported that Emirates Road remains exempt from the restrictions.
