Chinese mobility and aviation technology company Aridge is taking steps to introduce personal flying vehicles to the UAE consumer market. The vehicle system, known as the 'Land Aircraft Carrier', integrates a six-wheeled road carrier with a detachable two-seater electric aircraft.
According to Tan Wang, co-founder and vice-president of Aridge, the mechanism utilizes seven systems and more than 1,000 components to automate separation and docking in four to five minutes with a single touch. The aircraft is designed to be stored directly inside the ground carrier, eliminating the need for a separate hangar.
Wang stated that Aridge has received approximately 7,000 pre-orders worldwide, including around 600 from the GCC region. The system is designed for private ownership rather than commercial air taxi services.
To advance deployment, Aridge has signed an agreement with the Government of Ras Al Khaimah to conduct technology and flight testing under aviation authority supervision. Deployment in the country remains subject to airworthiness certification from Chinese aviation regulators and subsequent validation by the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority. There is currently no confirmed date for private flights or retail sales in the UAE.
