Chinese Aluminum Output Offsets Persian Gulf Production Disruptions

A commodities report showed Chinese smelters raised output and export volumes to balance supply shortfalls in the Persian Gulf. Regional logistical disruptions and energy constraints have sidelined hundreds of thousands of tons of Gulf smelting capacity. Gulf-based producers account for roughly one-tenth of global aluminum manufacturing output.

A commodities report released on October 22, 2026, indicated that Chinese industrial smelters have increased their output to balance major production shortfalls originating in the Persian Gulf.

According to the report, Persian Gulf-based aluminum producers account for approximately one-tenth of total worldwide manufacturing output. However, regional logistical disruptions and energy supply bottlenecks across the Middle East have sidelined hundreds of thousands of tons of smelting capacity in the Gulf.

Supported by newly added domestic refining capacity and lower raw-material input expenses, Chinese plants expanded export volumes to fulfill international manufacturing orders.
