The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) marked its 50th anniversary in Abu Dhabi, announcing that it has provided more than $11.8 billion in financing to member countries since its inception in 1976. The high-level Golden Jubilee event, hosted by the UAE Ministry of Finance, brought together Arab finance ministers, senior officials, and delegates from global institutions including the World Bank Group and the OECD, The National reported.

The gathering coincided with the 17th Ordinary Session of the Council of Arab Finance Ministers, where participants addressed regional fiscal conditions, AI deployment in tax administration, and economic resilience. Over its five decades, the AMF's capital has grown to nearly $10 billion, and the organisation has delivered more than 400 training programmes to around 20,000 participants, while advancing cross-border financial infrastructure such as the Buna payment system to enhance intra-Arab trade.

Speaking at the event, UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini highlighted federal modernisation efforts, stating the UAE aims to transition 50 percent of federal operations and services into agentic AI models within two years. He noted that the Ministry of Finance has integrated this technology across budgeting, payroll, procurement, and final accounts, while the Zero Bureaucracy Programme has delivered a 90 percent reduction in procedural requirements and a 73 percent cut in processing times.

The UAE also reaffirmed its commitment to international tax frameworks, confirming the implementation of its domestic minimum top-up tax starting in 2025 in alignment with the OECD's global minimum tax regulations. AMF Director General and Board Chairman Fahad M. Alturki stated that the fund will continue expanding financing, advisory support, capacity building, and digital initiatives across member states.
