AIIB Opens 11th Annual Meeting in Doha Focused on Infrastructure Financing

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank opened its 11th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors in Doha under the theme 'Tomorrow's Infrastructure: Impact and Innovation'. Qatari Finance Minister Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari and AIIB President Zou Jiayi met to discuss cross-border project funding and digital infrastructure. The multilateral bank holds $100 billion in capital and plans to commit $75 billion by 2030.

The 11th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Beijing-headquartered Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) commenced in Doha on September 28, 2026. The conference opened under the theme 'Tomorrow's Infrastructure: Impact and Innovation' in the presence of Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.

During the meeting, Qatari Finance Minister Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, serving as Chair of the Board of Governors, met with AIIB President Zou Jiayi. Their discussions focused on reviewing cross-border project financing alongside digital infrastructure initiatives.

The Chinese-led multilateral institution has a capital base of $100 billion across 111 member states. Over its first decade of operation, the AIIB deployed more than $60 billion across 300 development projects.

Looking ahead, the multilateral bank plans to commit an additional $75 billion toward development projects by 2030, according to Gulf Times.
