The collective brand value of the world's 100 most valuable energy brands expanded by 6% year-on-year to reach $731.2 billion, up from $688.6 billion in 2025, according to the Energy 100 2026 report released by brand valuation consultancy Brand Finance. The top 50 oil and gas brands generated $468.9 billion of the total, reflecting a 6% increase, while the top 50 utility brands accounted for $262.3 billion, growing by 7%.
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) saw its brand value rise 11% to $21.1 billion, recording more than 300% cumulative growth since 2017. Brand Finance named ADNOC as its "Oil & Gas Brand to Watch for 2026," citing the company's diversification beyond conventional exploration, international investments executed through its subsidiary XRG—including the acquisition of German materials maker Covestro—and an operational target to expand crude production capacity to 5 million barrels per day.
Chinese energy giants also secured leading global positions in the evaluation. PetroChina retained third place globally and remained China's most valuable oil and gas brand, with brand value increasing 7% to $35.7 billion, supported by 2025 gains in domestic crude output, refinery runs, and gas production. State Grid Corporation of China maintained its status as the world's most valuable and strongest utilities brand.
Among other leading energy majors, Shell retained first place globally in oil and gas brand value at $51.8 billion (up 14%), followed by Saudi Aramco at $47.3 billion (up 14%).
