Saudi Arabian power and water developer ACWA Power has announced a strategic partnership framework with Prolos China to explore renewable energy investment opportunities in the Chinese market. The cooperation focuses on centralized wind power installations, photovoltaic solar farms, and large-scale energy storage assets.
The framework is part of ACWA Power's previously announced plan to invest $30 billion in China by 2030, targeting green power facilities, seawater desalination, and green hydrogen, green ammonia, and green methanol. The source noted that the announcement represents a strategic cooperation framework rather than a signing for specific projects.
Prolos will contribute operational infrastructure, industrial power distribution capabilities, and green energy support for artificial intelligence computing clusters. Prolos signed an agreement in July 2026 to develop a gigawatt-scale green power intelligent computing base in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia, and projected management of 1.3 GW of renewable assets in China by December 2025.
ACWA Power, established in 2004 and headquartered in Riyadh, is 44.16 percent owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF). According to the report, the company held 94 global assets representing $97 billion in total investment as of the end of 2024.
