The Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre (ADPIC) has entered into a partnership with The Boring Company (TBC) to explore underground transportation systems, utility tunnels, and associated infrastructure solutions across Abu Dhabi, Gulf News reported.
The agreement was signed during the Liveability and Investment Exhibition (LIVEX 2026) in Abu Dhabi by Eng. Maysarah Mahmoud Salim Eid, Director General of ADPIC, and Steve Davis, President of The Boring Company, in the presence of Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT).
Under the partnership framework, the two entities will assess underground infrastructure solutions intended to enhance connectivity, network reliability, and sustainable urban development across the emirate. The scope also covers project feasibility evaluations, delivery frameworks, and operational models.
According to official statements, areas of bilateral collaboration will encompass tunnel planning, advanced boring technologies, construction methodologies, safety standards, and operations and maintenance. The dialogue will also include digital engineering, automation, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
DMT Chairman Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa stated that Abu Dhabi is exploring innovative approaches to optimise the use of space, reinforce connectivity, and support long-term urban growth through global infrastructure expertise.
