Sixty-one private mediators in civil and commercial disputes have taken the legal oath before Counsellor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), marking the official start of their duties under applicable legislation, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The swearing-in aims to strengthen alternative dispute resolution mechanisms through mutual agreements between disputing parties to expedite justice, the report stated.

Al Abri said the approval of the new batch of private mediators reflects the vision of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court, and Chairman of the ADJD, to develop the judicial system and offer flexible legal alternatives that complement courts in line with international best practices.

According to Al Abri, private mediation enhances Abu Dhabi's investment and economic environment by providing swift, effective, and confidential mechanisms to resolve disputes, thereby supporting stable commercial transactions and business continuity.

Al Abri called on the newly sworn-in mediators to maintain integrity, impartiality, and transparency, and to comply with statutory legislation and professional standards to protect parties' rights.
