Abu Dhabi Expands Fujairah Port as Dubai Forum Unveils China Lineup

Abu Dhabi has expanded container terminals and oil storage at the Port of Fujairah under its 'Zero Hormuz' infrastructure initiative to secure direct trade corridors to China outside the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, Dubai Chambers and the Greater Bay Area Importers and Exporters Association unveiled the delegation and attendee lineup for the 2026 Dubai Business Forum – China in Shenzhen. Over 90 Dubai officials and senior executives, alongside more than 600 registered Chinese companies, are confirmed to participate in the bilateral event.

Abu Dhabi has advanced its multi-billion-dollar 'Zero Hormuz' infrastructure initiative by expanding container terminals and oil storage facilities at the Port of Fujairah, according to the UAE-China Chamber of Commerce. The project, managed by sovereign investment entity L'imad Holding, is designed to ensure uninterrupted, direct energy and freight shipping lanes between the UAE and China bypass the Strait of Hormuz. The infrastructure expansion coincides with ongoing evaluations regarding the privatization of AD Ports Group at an estimated valuation near $9 billion.

In parallel commercial developments, details have been announced for the 2026 Dubai Business Forum – China, scheduled to take place at the Shangri-La Hotel in Shenzhen on October 14, 2026. The forum is centered around the theme 'Momentum at Scale: Accelerating Shared Success' and features closed-door matchmaking sessions aimed at facilitating Chinese corporate expansion across Asia, Africa, and Europe via Dubai.

The Greater Bay Area Importers and Exporters Association is serving as the Official Supporting Organization in China for the forum. Dubai Chambers will lead a delegation of over 90 confirmed senior representatives, including officials from Dubai core government entities, free zone authorities, and investment conglomerates. Confirmed entities include the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, DP World, Dubai Land Department, JAFZA, and Dubai Future Foundation.

Organizers reported that more than 600 Chinese enterprises across sectors including digital technology, smart manufacturing, cross-border logistics, new energy, and retail consumption have registered to attend. The event provides direct roundtables and private consultation sessions with Dubai Chambers regarding business setup, investment pathways, and compliance regulations.
