Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer XPENG has officially introduced its Kunpeng Super Range Extender technology to the GCC alongside the launch of the Grand Xplore Tour, Drive Arabia reported. The regional driving programme is designed to showcase the long-distance performance and real-world durability of the company's new flagship XPENG GX SUV. The announcement was made during a media workshop hosted at the XPENG Dubai showroom on October 6, 2026.
According to the publisher, the Grand Xplore Tour will see the XPENG GX journey across all six GCC countries, starting and concluding in the United Arab Emirates. Following the opening stage in the UAE, the route extends to Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait, incorporating local media workshops and driving challenges under regional highway, urban, and high-temperature desert conditions.
At the core of the vehicle is XPENG's Kunpeng Super Range Extender system, which combines electric drive motors with an internal combustion generator. Drive Arabia noted that the GX is equipped with a 63.3 kWh battery pack and a 60-litre fuel tank, providing a claimed combined driving range of up to 1,585 km and a pure-electric range of 430 km under the CLTC test cycle. The tour will evaluate the vehicle's range capabilities starting with a full tank and battery charge.
The vehicle also includes vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities delivering up to 6 kW of external power, scheduled to be tested at a desert campsite during the tour. XPENG additionally announced a Falcon Collector Edition variant and detailed the six-seat cabin configuration, which features a power-folding third row and expandable cargo capacity of up to 1,748 litres in four-seat mode.
