Sharjah recorded a 45 per cent growth in foreign direct investment (FDI) projects during 2025, reflecting the broader competitiveness of the UAE economy amid shifting global capital flows, according to Mohamed Juma Al Musharrkh, CEO of the Sharjah FDI Office (Invest in Sharjah).

Speaking in an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Al Musharrkh stated that global shifts have made international investors increasingly selective, with capital progressively concentrating in fewer countries and sectors. He noted that investors are prioritising destinations that provide stability, clear economic outlooks, and flexible legislative and regulatory frameworks.

Al Musharrkh identified four primary pillars supporting the UAE's investment appeal: economic diversification, an adaptable legislative ecosystem, specialised talent, and early entry into emerging sectors. He cited figures showing that non-oil activities represented 79.4 per cent of the UAE economy in the first quarter of 2026, led by financial services, construction, healthcare, and telecommunications.

The statements came ahead of the ninth Sharjah Investment Forum, organised in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Investment, scheduled for 14 and 15 October at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre. Convening under the theme "Building Adaptive Economies," the event is set to host more than 80 international speakers, including government ministers, investors, entrepreneurs, and economic experts.
