Chinese Direct Investment in UAE Hits $2.6 Billion in Latest Reporting Cycle

Chinese direct investment in the UAE reached $2.6 billion during the latest reporting cycle, marking a more than threefold annual increase. Cumulative investment stock rose to $12.47 billion, making the UAE the top Middle Eastern recipient of Chinese capital. Chinese banks now hold over 30 percent of assets in DIFC's banking sector.

Official outbound foreign direct investment figures published on September 30, 2026, show that Chinese direct investment into the UAE reached $2.6 billion during the latest reporting cycle, according to a report by Seoul Economic Daily.

The capital inflow reflects a more than threefold increase compared to the previous year. This growth brought the cumulative Chinese investment stock in the UAE to $12.47 billion.

According to the reported data, the UAE stands as the leading recipient of Chinese outbound direct investment in the Middle East. Key drivers of the investment include capital commitments in digital infrastructure, logistics, and renewable energy.

The figures also indicated that Chinese banking institutions now hold more than 30 percent of total assets in the Dubai International Financial Centre's Banking and Capital Markets sector.
