UAE businesses are entering a critical phase in the nationwide shift to mandatory electronic invoicing, with large enterprises facing their first formal compliance deadline on October 30, 2026, Gulf News reported. Entities with annual revenue of Dh50 million or more must appoint an Accredited Service Provider (ASP) by that date, ahead of mandatory e-invoicing implementation scheduled for January 1, 2027.

Smaller businesses and government entities have until March 31, 2027, to appoint an ASP. Mandatory rollout is scheduled to commence on July 1, 2027, for smaller companies and October 1, 2027, for public sector bodies. Businesses that fail to meet the applicable deadlines face a recurring fine of Dh5,000 per month under Cabinet Decision No. 106 of 2025.

A voluntary pilot framework has operated since July 1, 2026, under Ministerial Decision No. 244 of 2025, supported by a Taxpayer Working Group managed by the Ministry of Finance and the Federal Tax Authority. According to chartered accountancy firm ADEPTS, 32 service providers have received accreditation to date, with additional provider applications undergoing review following regulatory framework updates in 2026.

ADEPTS has launched an online assessment tool to help businesses evaluate their readiness across timeline compliance, ASP appointment, IT systems, data, and accounting processes. Aaliyan Ibrahim, founder and managing partner of ADEPTS, noted that companies have often treated e-invoicing as an IT vendor assignment rather than a legal compliance requirement with a fixed calendar date.
