Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) have opened Dubai Mobility Labs at Dubai Silicon Oasis. The test-and-validation facility features 248 autonomous driving scenarios across controlled closed tracks and open public roads extending towards Al Qudra.
According to media reports, the multipurpose test area covers 195 situations—143 from the original design and 52 added later—with public-road trials completing the 248-scenario programme. The site includes administrative offices, workshops, and three 60kW electric vehicle chargers to test how vehicles sense, make decisions, and respond to changing road conditions.
Chinese autonomous mobility developers WeRide and Pony.ai have deployed vehicles for trials at the facility, alongside Tesla. Global testing and inspection organisation DEKRA has been appointed to operate the research and testing laboratories under a three-year contract.
The facility supports Dubai's Smart Self-Driving Transport Strategy, which targets converting 25 percent of all mobility journeys into driverless trips by 2030. Reports noted that the opening provides testing and certification infrastructure and does not represent blanket road approval or a broader commercial robotaxi rollout across the emirate.
