The Oman Investment Authority signed a preliminary term sheet with China's Silk Road Fund to set up an $800 million joint investment fund, Dealroom reported. The signing occurred during a state visit to Beijing by Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
The bilateral vehicle forms part of a wider 23-agreement cooperation package between China and Oman covering logistics, solar energy, artificial intelligence, finance, and mining. The partnership aims to enhance Gulf connectivity with Chinese industrial supply chains and direct capital toward strategic infrastructure projects across Oman and the GCC.
Financial arrangements within the package also feature a $300 million fund split involving China Merchants Bank and a $200 million commitment with IDG Capital. In logistics and technology, Oman's Asyad Group agreed to develop three distribution warehouses in collaboration with JD.com, while telecommunications provider Omantel partnered with Huawei on artificial intelligence neural processing infrastructure.
In manufacturing and natural resources, the agreements include a $100 million solar manufacturing joint project involving BCG and Hoi Mills, alongside a 10-year, $418.7 million mining services contract awarded to Hongda International.
