The 1.5-gigawatt Abu Dhabi PV3 Al Ajban solar project located in northeastern Abu Dhabi is nearing grid connection, representing a milestone in clean energy collaboration between China and the UAE, according to China Daily.

Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina), operating through Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited, is carrying out the engineering, procurement, and construction of the facility. The installation covers a 20-square-kilometer desert site.

PowerChina project manager Wang Xinjin stated that the solar complex will produce approximately 4.4 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity every year, providing electricity for roughly 160,000 households. The plant is projected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 2.4 million metric tons annually to support the UAE's net-zero transition.

The project also incorporated specialized photovoltaic installation robots manufactured in China to automate module placement during construction.
