The 1.5-gigawatt Abu Dhabi PV3 Al Ajban solar project in northeastern Abu Dhabi is nearing grid connection, with construction undertaken by Chinese enterprises, Xinhua reported.

The facility covers an area of 20 square kilometers and is being constructed by Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina) through its Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited unit.

According to PowerChina project manager Wang Xinjin, the plant will generate 4.4 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, sufficient to power 160,000 households. The plant is projected to reduce approximately 2.4 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year in support of the UAE's net-zero 2050 target.

Automated photovoltaic installation robots developed in China were deployed on-site to assist with module mounting and field construction operations.
