OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman signed a series of agreements spanning energy, government operations, and investment in Abu Dhabi on Monday, Al-Monitor reported. The signing was witnessed by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan following a meeting between the two leaders.

According to the report, the headline pact was announced during the ADIPEC energy conference and establishes a multiyear partnership between OpenAI, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and AI firm G42. The deal is aimed at deploying advanced artificial intelligence systems across the state-owned energy company's operations.

ADNOC described itself as the first energy firm to deploy OpenAI Frontier, a platform engineered to coordinate AI agents across business workflows.

Al-Monitor noted that the agreements deepen OpenAI's ties with the United Arab Emirates as the ChatGPT developer pursues a massive new funding round backed by Middle Eastern investors, while boosting the Gulf state's strategic AI ambitions.
