Dubai Future Finance Week opened at Madinat Jumeirah with the Dubai FinTech Summit as its anchor event, featuring over 100 events, 12 forums, 14 stages, and more than 1,000 speakers under the theme 'Finance Reimagined', The Fintech Times reported. During the opening, officials confirmed that J.P. Morgan is launching a private bank branch within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
Addressing digital currency integration, Paul Kayrouz, Chief Fintech Officer at the Central Bank of the UAE, stated that four banks are currently licensed to issue dirham stablecoins covering retail payments, cross-border flows, corporate treasury, and intercompany settlement. Kayrouz noted that these regulated stablecoins, established under the UAE's 2024 risk-based framework, are structured to operate alongside the central bank's digital dirham without direct competition.
DIFC Governor Essa Kazim reported that the financial free zone added more than 2,200 active companies during the first nine months of 2026, marking a 26 per cent year-on-year increase. Over the preceding 12 months, the centre's innovation, fintech, and AI community expanded by approximately 500 net firms.
DIFC also announced a major facility expansion, growing the DIFC Academy tenfold to 370,000 square feet in the new Zabeel District. The new three-building campus will feature 54 seminar rooms, five research spaces, and an independent graduation hall, with the capacity to train over 50,000 learners annually starting from 2030, compared to 51,620 graduates recorded across its first two decades.
Additionally, Emirates NBD relaunched its National Digital Talent Incubator as NDTI AI in partnership with DIFC Innovation Hub, Amazon Web Services, and Visa to support artificial intelligence adoption among Emirati-owned small and medium enterprises.
