Chinese automotive marque OMODA & JAECOO, an export division of Chery Group, showcased its new hybrid-electric vehicle technology alongside the global debut of the OMODA X crossover at its International User Summit in Wuhu, China, according to Khaleej Times.
The carmaker presented its 5-kWh hybrid-electric vehicle (HEV) powertrain architecture, which is slated to make its global production debut on the OMODA 7 model ahead of deployment in export destinations including the UAE. According to OMODA & JAECOO International Chief Executive Officer Shawn Xu, the 5-kWh system features a larger battery pack enabling a Super Quiet Mode for reduced noise during starts, acceleration, and cruising, alongside 2.2 kW Vehicle-to-Load external power delivery.
The summit also served as the debut platform for the OMODA X, positioned by the manufacturer as a crossover combining sports-car styling with off-road capability. The vehicle features a 200 mm ground clearance, a design wading depth exceeding 700 mm, towing capacity of up to 1,800 kg, and an infrared thermal-imaging night-vision system with a detection range of up to 90 metres. The cockpit includes a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch central display.
OMODA & JAECOO reported that cumulative global vehicle sales have exceeded 1.4 million units within three and a half years of operation, with electrified models—comprising hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and battery-electric vehicles—accounting for 81 percent of total volume. The brand currently maintains operations across 79 countries with more than 1,700 showrooms and plans to expand into 99 markets by 2027.
