Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) has published formal guidance setting out commercial licensing and governance rules for cryptocurrency mining businesses operating within or from the financial centre, Gulf Business reported.

ADGM stated that it is the first international financial centre in the region to establish dedicated regulatory guidelines for cryptocurrency mining operations.

Under the new framework, crypto mining is classified as a licensable commercial activity placed under the direct regulatory oversight of ADGM's Registration Authority.

The framework establishes boundaries distinguishing physical mining operations from financial activities governed by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) via a pre-application self-assessment mechanism.
