The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), the regulator of the healthcare sector in the emirate, has concluded its inaugural health and life sciences delegation visit to China, according to the Abu Dhabi Media Office. The mission was designed to accelerate the translation of scientific and technological innovation into healthcare delivery.
Led by DoH Undersecretary H.E. Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, the delegation engaged in 32 meetings and site visits across Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. The discussions brought together Abu Dhabi's healthcare and life sciences ecosystem with leading Chinese medical institutions, universities, and technology innovators.
Talks focused on pairing China's scientific, technological, and manufacturing capabilities with Abu Dhabi's healthcare infrastructure, population-scale data, genomics programmes, and agile regulatory environment. Key areas of focus included artificial intelligence, precision medicine, diagnostics, advanced cell therapies, biologics, and drug discovery.
Dr. Al Ghaithi stated that shaping the future of healthcare requires connecting scientific discovery with effective implementation, noting that the mission identified opportunities to combine China's technological strengths with Abu Dhabi's integrated testing and clinical adoption environment.
