Chinese investment banks and securities brokerages are accelerating their expansion into the Gulf region by establishing presences in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), according to the South China Morning Post.
Beijing-based China Securities has established a regional office in the DIFC. The new office is positioned to capture client business across equity and debt capital markets, investment banking, and asset management.
The development follows China International Capital Corporation's (CICC) earlier establishment of a presence in the DIFC to facilitate capital flows between China and Middle Eastern markets.
The expansion comes as Chinese policymakers encourage domestic brokerages to develop competitive global institutions to support cross-border corporate financing, aiming to serve rising demand from Chinese enterprises and Gulf institutional investors.
