UAE-based firm Habib Al Mulla and Partners has announced the establishment of a presence in Shanghai, positioning itself as the first Arab firm to launch business consulting services in China. The firm stated that the move represents a key milestone in its international expansion strategy and is designed to support cross-border commercial and investment opportunities between China and the Middle East.
According to the firm, the Shanghai location will act as a direct liaison for Chinese enterprises and investors seeking entry into the Middle East, connecting clients with the practice's teams in the UAE, Egypt, Iraq, India, Turkey, and Russia. It will also provide on-the-ground support for UAE-based companies dealing with suppliers, partners, and counterparties across China.
Firm founder Dr. Habib Al Mulla stated that the expansion reflects the deepening commercial ties between the UAE and China, noting that the firm aims to assist businesses in navigating legal and regulatory frameworks as well as commercial practices across both regions.
The firm cited data from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs showing that bilateral non-oil trade reached approximately $58 billion in 2018 and is projected to reach $200 billion by 2030, with the UAE serving as the leading business hub for Chinese companies in the Arab world.
