GS1 UAE and the UAE Food Cluster launched the National Food Catalogue on October 2, 2026, during the Future Food Forum held under the patronage of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism.

The digital platform creates a unified national database establishing trusted product identification and specifications across the UAE commercial food sector. Operating under a 'register once, accepted everywhere' principle, the catalogue eliminates redundant filing steps and inconsistent documentation across supply chains.

According to the Emirates News Agency, the system aids commercial enterprises in complying with customs requirements, product ownership verifications, and monitoring parallel imports. The initiative directly supports the country's Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme to streamline commercial procedures for domestic and international distributors.
