Dubai Metro is advancing major expansion plans that encompass 29 proposed new station locations across two new lines, Time Out Dubai reported. The network currently operates the Red and Green Lines, with the upcoming Blue Line set to launch in 2029 and the Gold Line expected to follow in 2032.
Among the key beneficiaries of the Blue Line is International City, home to Dragon Mart and visited by more than 200,000 residents and visitors. The area will host three stations along the larger 21-kilometre route, including an underground interchange station designed to improve connections across existing lines. Other planned Blue Line stations include Academic City, Al Jaddaf, Al Rashidiya, Al Warqa, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Mirdif, and Ras Al Khor.
The Blue Line will also feature a landmark 11,000-square-metre station at Dubai Creek Harbour, to be named Emaar Properties Station for at least its first 10 years of operation. The station is designed to accommodate up to 160,000 passengers, with more than 70,000 daily users projected, supported by a 1,300-metre viaduct crossing Dubai Creek.
The planned Gold Line will extend the rail network further across the city by 2032. Its proposed connections include Global Village, which draws more than 10 million visitors annually, and Meydan, where a station will provide the district's first metro connection and link with the Etihad Rail passenger network. An interchange is also planned at Jumeirah Golf Estates, integrating with the Red Line and Dubai's initial Etihad Rail passenger terminal.
