UAE-based marine contractor NMDC Group has inaugurated its newly constructed heavy-duty cutter suction dredger, Abu Al Bakhoush, during a ceremony held in Nantong, China.
The vessel was constructed by Chinese shipbuilder Jiangsu Haixin Shipping Heavy Industry. Measuring 148 metres in length, the self-propelled dredger features a total installed power of 30,040 kW and is fitted with a 7.8 MW cutter capable of operating down to a maximum dredging depth of 38 metres.
According to NMDC, the vessel's design enables rock cutting and precise excavation for trenches, navigation channels, and harbours. The addition brings NMDC's operational fleet to more than 170 vessels, strengthening its capacity to execute large-scale, complex infrastructure projects in international markets.
