UAE Stocks End Mixed as Easing Iran Tensions Lift Dubai Benchmark Index

United Arab Emirates stock markets ended mixed on Friday as regional tensions eased following remarks from US President Donald Trump regarding Iran. Dubai's benchmark index broke a three-session decline to close 0.3% higher, driven by gains in Emirates NBD and Emaar Properties. Abu Dhabi's index finished lower, pressured by drops in basic materials, telecoms, utilities, and First Abu Dhabi Bank.

Stock markets in the United Arab Emirates finished mixed on Friday, October 9, 2026, as geopolitical concerns eased, Reuters reported. Sentiment improved after US President Donald Trump announced that Washington would not conduct an attack on Iran before the US midterm congressional elections scheduled for next month.

Trump stated on Thursday that the United States and Iran were engaged in constructive discussions seeking to resolve the conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical conduit for international energy shipping. The two sides have exchanged diplomatic proposals in recent weeks, though Trump rejected Tehran's latest submission.

Dubai's benchmark index ended a three-session losing streak, rising 0.3% with a majority of constituent stocks closing in positive territory. Shares of Dubai's largest bank, Emirates NBD, gained 2.1%, while property developer Emaar Properties rose 1.1%.

Abu Dhabi's benchmark index declined, weighed down by selling across basic materials, consumer staples, telecommunications, and utilities sectors. First Abu Dhabi Bank, the largest lender in the UAE, dropped 0.6%.
